Bangladesh governor resigns over theft
Atiur Rahman has resigned following theft of $101 million
Bangladesh Bank governor Atiur Rahman resigned today (March 15), following the theft of $101 million from the central bank's account at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
A central bank spokesperson confirmed Rahman had offered his resignation and it was accepted. The country's finance minister announced Fazle Kabir, a former senior secretary to the government, would succeed Rahman later this month.
Local media reported the government had also sacked two deputy governors over their handling
