Barnier still examining ‘where to draw the line' on bank ring-fencing
European commissioner Michel Barnier will put forward a proposal on ring-fencing riskier bank activities around September this year, that aims to strike a balance between allowing banks to finance economic growth while strengthening European Union measures to mitigate systemic risk.
Barnier's spokesman Stefaan De Rynck used a press conference today to rebut media reports earlier this week that stated Barnier was cooling to the idea of implementing recommendations put forward by a high-level
