Single Asian currency not on the agenda, says Bank of Thailand chief
Leading Asian central bankers and their political masters have no plans to establish a common currency bloc in the future to forge closer economic ties, Prasarn Trairatvorakul, governor of the Bank of Thailand, has told Central Banking Journal.
"Nobody has expressed any goal of that kind," the Bank of Thailand official said, when asked if closer economic and financial harmonisation in Asia, particularly among Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) would lead to a single currency.
