Finland commemorates the end of the markka

The Bank of Finland has published a book and launched a new museum exhibition to commemorate the old Finnish marrka banknotes.

The book is titled Viimeiset markat – Suomen markkamääräiset setelityypit 1945–2002 (‘The last markka banknotes – Finnish markka-denominated banknote types in 1945-2002'), and outlines the history of Finland's banknotes.

The book's author, Antti Heinonen, is an authority on banknote production, having served as head of the banknote function at both the Bank of Finland
