An “iconic” Canadian woman will feature on a new polymer banknote from 2018, the country’s prime minister announced on International Women’s Day (March 8).

Following the announcement by Justin Trudeau, the Bank of Canada called on the public to nominate their heroines for the spot. People have until April 15 to submit candidates.

Only women who are Canadian by birth and died at least 25 years ago will be eligible. They must have “demonstrated outstanding leadership, achievement or distinction
