Riksbank reveals details of new currency series release
The Riksbank today (June 8) announced the details of its plans for the introduction of a new series of banknotes and coins. The first new banknotes are to be issued in October 2015, with some of the oldest notes becoming invalid as soon as December 2013.
The new notes will be introduced in two stages, the 20, 50, 200 and 1000 krona notes are to be issued in October 2015, and 100 and 500 krona notes and 1, 2 and 5 krona coins will be introduced in October 2016. The 2 krona coins and 200 krona
