Iranian news agency closed over governor reports

The Iranian authorities have ordered Fars, one of the country's biggest news agencies, to shut down for three days following the publication of reports over the future of Tahmasb Mazaheri, the governor of the Central Bank of Iran.

IRNA, the country's official news agency, said on Monday that Fars would be closed for "disturbing public opinion" and publishing lies. It did not specify that the ban was for the story on the governor's future, but Borna, an Iranian news agency, and Reuters both
