Hungary cenbank council may become dysfunctional

The supervisory board of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) is concerned that the central bank council may become unable to function and make decisions after 20 February 2001, according to the daily Vilaggazdasag.

The mandate of council member Janos Szaz expires at that time, and the worst case scenario will come into effect if no new member is appointed by then. The supervisory board will decide on what steps to take regarding the matter at its next session. Central bank council members are
