Central Bank of Morocco
On 1 July 1959 the Banque du Maroc was created by the Dahir N°. 1.59.233. It became the national currency-issuing institute and it replaced the former Banque d’Etat du Maroc. On 21 April 1967 a new banking act strengthened the role allotted to Banque du Maroc by its statutes, particularly in the field of banking supervision. In March 1987 the name was changed to Bank Al-Maghrib. In July 1997 a new banking act established a unified regulatory framework for all credit institutions
