Unemployment problems are caused by structural issues, Sarb governor says

The governor of the South African Reserve Bank (Sarb) has said adopting a second mandate – an unemployment target – would be a mistake for the central bank.

Speaking in Durban on April 25, Lesetja Kganyago asked the question of whether the central bank should target employment as well as inflation, aligning itself with dual mandate central banks, such as the Federal Reserve in the US.
