Ukrainian central bank prohibits institutions from handling new note

A new banknote put into circulation last week by the Bank of Russia has triggered outrage in Ukraine over its design.

From October 17, the National Bank of Ukraine has prohibited local banks and financial institutions from handling, accepting or dispensing “any banknotes” produced by its Russian counterpart which feature imagery depicting “Ukrainian administrative territorial units occupied by the Russian Federation”.
