BoJ deputy says underlying inflation has ‘steadily’ improved
Iwata: CPI inflation excluding energy, fresh food making positive contribution
The underlying trend in inflation in Japan has improved "steadily" towards the central bank's inflation target of 2%, Bank of Japan deputy governor Kikuo Iwata stressed today (December 2).
In a "meeting with business leaders" in Okayama, Iwata noted CPI including energy, but excluding fresh food, was projected to reach "around 2%" some time near the second half of fiscal 2016.
