Dallas Fed’s Kaplan expects policy to ‘remain accommodative for some time’

Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas president: FOMC was ‘prudent’ to wait for more data

The Federal Open Market Committee was "prudent" to wait for more data before tightening monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas president, Robert Kaplan, said on November 18.

Kaplan told an audience at the University of Houston it would "likely be appropriate" for policy to "remain accommodative for some time". This could mean operating with a "lower-than-usual" federal funds rate, he said.
