Debate over rate hike will ‘come into sharper relief’ around new year
Bank of England (BoE) governor Mark Carney sent markets into a flutter on July 16 by hinting the central bank may start considering a rate hike seriously around the turn of the year.
Carney reiterated past statements that rates will only rise gradually, and may well peak at around half of their historical level, in the region of 2%.
