Malaysian deputy unveils ‘ink-staining’ technology for ATMs
Technology will stain notes with indelible ink if machine is being robbed
Malaysian ATMs will be fitted with a new technology that will stain banknotes with a special ink if someone attempts to rob them, central bank deputy governor Muhammad bin Ibrahim said today (May 11).
Ibrahim told an audience at Bank Negara Malaysia the country's ATMs have been a "frequent target of criminals" in recent years – though the rate of robberies declined in 2014.
