BoJ’s Miyao extols virtues of open-ended QE

QE can benefit economy through fiscal impact too, board member says

Ryuzo Miyao, a member of the Bank of Japan's (BoJ) policy board, today stressed the benefits associated with open-ended programmes of quantitative easing (QE), such as the one currently pursued by the BoJ.

Speaking at the 2015 Daiwa Investment Conference in Tokyo, Miyao highlighted three core benefits to open-ended QE. The policy demonstrates the central bank's "strong will and determination" to achieve its target, may have positive effects on the supply side due to its longer duration, and
