Constâncio: ECB ‘encouraged’ by reaction to QE
ECB vice-president points to rise in price of equities and bonds
The European Central Bank (ECB) was "encouraged" by the initial reaction to its decision to launch quantitative easing (QE), according to vice-president Vítor Constâncio.
The programme, announced last week, will see the Eurosystem buying assets worth €60 billion a month until at least September 2016. Constâncio reflected on the fallout in his speech at the Annual Conference of the Marshall Society in Cambridge on January 31.
