Tombini: Brazilian inflation might increase in the near term

Brazilian inflation may accelerate further in the next few months, but the central bank is working to bring it back to the 4.5% target of "as fast as possible", governor Alexandre Tombini said today.
"It should not be taken as a surprise [if] in the coming months [we see] a scenario that includes inflation above the current levels" as a weaker real boosts the price of imported goods, Tombini warned during a hearing at the national chamber of deputies in Brasilia.
