Bank of Korea governor Juyeol Lee has warned countries' internal imbalances are worsening, urging "proactive and concerted" policy efforts to correct them.

Delivering the opening remarks at a joint conference between the bank and the International Monetary Fund on macroeconomic rebalancing, he said without "fundamental rebalancing", the "full-fledged" recovery of the world economy seemed unlikely.

Expansionary macroeconomic policies are only a temporary solution, Lee warned. In the longer run
