Ingves: Basel Committee still has ‘quite a bit of work to do’ on leverage ratio

Stefan Ingves believes the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, which he chairs, has "quite a bit of work to do to get [the] balance right" between the leverage ratio and the risk-based framework in Basel III.

Ingves told an audience at the 10th Asia-Pacific High-Level Meeting on Banking Supervision, held in New Zealand, that now there was an internationally agreed measure of bank leverage – "no small feat in itself" – the Basel Committee could turn to the issue of calibration.
