Mauritius’ Bheenick warns of middle income trap
Rundheersing Bheenick, the governor of the Bank of Mauritius, on 27 November said countries squeezed between low wage competitors in poor countries and cutting edge innovators in rich countries need to regain competitiveness in global markets.
At an event in Port Louis, Mauritius, Bheenick said: "Middle-income countries that developed a niche for themselves some years ago are now facing intense competition from new lower-income countries, eager to move up the ladder to middle-income category
