Adopt Basel II with care: Malaysia's Zeti

Emerging-market authorities must adapt Basel II with particular attention to local conditions, said Zeti Akhtar Aziz, the governor of the Central Bank of Malaysia.

In a keynote address at SEACEN, a centre for South-East Asian Central Banks, Zeti said that regulators must ensure that the preconditions for effective implementation of Basel II are adequately developed so as not to cause market disruptions.
