The potential of improved fiscal policies to contribute to economic growth through the more active role of women in all areas of life is "significant", says a working paper published by the International Monetary Fund.
Middle East and Central Asia: A Survey of Gender Budgeting Efforts, authored by Lisa Kolovich and Sakina Shibuya, examines a number of gender budgeting efforts in the region but finds only Morocco and Afghanistan have undertaken "sustained and significant efforts".
