Paper finds education opens opportunities, but they can diminish after marriage
Women's education in sub-Saharan Africa must be supported by measures that allow married women to keep their jobs in the wage sector, a working paper published by the International Monetary Fund argues.
In Women's Opportunities and Challenges in SubSaharan African Job Markets, Christine Dieterich, Anni Huang, and Alun Thomas utilise household survey data to analyse the gender gap in labour markets and its welfare implications.
They consider five countries - Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mauritius, Rwanda
