Reserve Bank of Fiji annual report shows more people registered for mobile money

The Reserve Bank of Fiji's latest annual report reveals a "huge decline" in registered active agents in the mobile banking sector from 2,327 in 2014 to 361 at the end of 2015.

Agents allow customers to withdraw or deposit money into their mobile accounts, and typically include shops, businesses, banks and phone retail agents. The bank attributes the decline to an impasse in e-ticketing development. This, they say, has seen most registered agents cease to provide mobile money services.
