ECB research flags signs of Spanish decoupling
Spain's economy seems to have diverged from other major eurozone economies
Research published today (June 26) by the European Central Bank (ECB) warns recessions in recent years may have caused Spain's economy to "decouple" from those of other major eurozone countries.
The working paper, Euro area business cycles in turbulent times: convergence or decoupling? by Filippo Ferroni and Benjamin Klaus, takes advantage of the "rich data environment" to identify the common factors behind economic movements in the eurozone and those that are specific to national economies.
