Spanish paper analyses impact of securitisation on bank capital structures

Securitisation has an impact on the capital structure and funding policies of banks on account of the "substantial reduction in their reliance on deposits as a financing source," according to a working paper published by the Bank of Spain today.

In Securitization and banks' capital structure, Andres Almazan, Alfredo Martín-Oliver and Jesús Saurina analyse data on securitised loan issuances of Spanish banks from 1999 to 2006.
