Bundesbank paper says media exposure shapes inflation expectations

A Deutsche Bundesbank discussion paper, published today, says differences in the way people consume news helps to explain why inflation expectations vary across the country.

The paper, Households' Disagreement on Inflation Expectations and Socioeconomic Media Exposure in Germany, by Jan-Oliver Menz and Philipp Poppitz, finds that inflation expectations in Germany are higher among the younger, lower income and unemployed sections of the population.
