Freedom to roam: Solomon Islands dollar can now fluctuate more freely against currencies such as US dollar

The Central Bank of Solomon Islands reviewed its exchange rate policy last year, electing to let its currency, the Solomon Islands dollar, fluctuate more freely against its currency basket.

The Solomon Islands dollar is pegged against a basket consisting of the Australian dollar, UK sterling, yen, New Zealand dollar and the US dollar.

In the past, it also strived to restrict the movement of the currency against the US dollar on any particular day, but according to the central bank's latest
