Botswana's banking sector grew in 2013

The entry of two Indian banks into Botswana's banking sector last year should increase competition and access to finance, according to the Bank of Botswana's banking supervision 2013 report, released yesterday.

Bank of India and State Bank of India both opened Botswana subsidiaries, which were licensed and began operating last year, which alongside an increase in branches and ATMs, and access to mobile and internet banking, means more people in Botswana have access to financial services.
