People: BIS replaces Debelle as chair of markets committee; UK advertises for Shafik replacement

MAS’s Jacqueline Loh will chair markets committee at the Bank for International Settlements; BoE advertises for deputy governor

Basel: Jacqueline Loh has been appointed as the new chair of the Bank for International Settlements' (BIS) markets committee, replacing Guy Debelle.

In a statement on November 8, the BIS announced the deputy managing director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) will stand for a term of three years, effective from mid-January 2017. 

The markets committee is a forum where senior central bank officials collaborate to monitor developments in financial markets, assessing their implications
