An economist at the Bank for International Settlements has designed a method for forecasting global inflation, and finds this can be used to improve domestic projections.

Though central bankers often refer to the influence of global inflation on the domestic price level, forecasting it is a challenge, Jonathan Kearns writes in a working paper published today (September 20).
