Gibraltar to launch polymer £100 note

Rock of Gibraltar
Gibraltar: note will be the territory's first banknote to be produced on the substrate

The Government of Gibraltar will "soon" issue a new polymer £100 ($132) banknote in commemoration of the birth of Joshua Hassan, it announced on August 23.

The note, the first ever legal tender of a £100 banknote to be produced in polymer, will also be Gibraltar's first banknote to be produced on the substrate.

The UK's overseas territory issues its own money, which is pegged at par value to sterling. Though the notes are not legal tender in the UK, the Gibraltar government still refers to them
