Governor says global risks to US outlook have increased in the wake of the UK’s vote to leave the EU

Jerome Powell, Federal Reserve: main risks to US outlook have "shifted even further to the downside"

The UK's decision to leave the European Union could create "new headwinds" for economies across the globe, including the US, the Federal Reserve's Jerome Powell said on June 28.

Powell, a Fed governor, said the main risks to the US outlook came from abroad before the vote, but have since "shifted even further to the downside".

The Fed issued a statement after the result was announced on June 24, stressing it was "carefully monitoring developments in global financial markets".
