National Bank of Angola opens currency museum
The museum receives 2,000 visitors in its first four days; exhibits the history of the currency, from sea shells to today's banknote series
The National Bank of Angola has opened a currency museum, receiving some 2,000 visitors in its first few days, the bank announced on May 10.
Opened by Angolan president Jose Eduardo dos Santos on May 6, the museum is partly housed underground and is located very close to the central bank on Fevereiro Avenue in Luanda Bay.
In the permanent exhibition hall, the display recalls the history of Angola's currency, from a time when Nzimbu, a type of sea shell, was used as a means of payment right up
