FCA chairman defends selection process for new chief

FCA chair questioned on whether appointment of Bailey was fair

The chairman of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) defended his role in the appointment of a new chief executive, after the process was questioned in his appearance before the UK Treasury Select Committee today (April 26).

John Griffith-Jones was criticised by one Member of Parliament, John Mann, after it emerged the next chief executive Andrew Bailey was not interviewed, either alongside or after other candidates.
