People: Turkey nominates new governor; McDermott to step down from FCA
Murat Çetinkaya nominated to head Turkish central bank
Turkey: The Turkish government has proposed Murat Çetinkaya, currently deputy governor at the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, as replacement for outgoing governor Erdem Başçı.
Deputy prime minister Mehmet Şimşek welcomed the choice and described Çetinkaya as "experienced, competent and smart", in a tweet on April 12. The nomination must still be confirmed, however, by president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has taken a combative stance towards the central bank in the past.
