Russian companies are placing the economy at risk with their excessive demand for foreign currency-denominated loans, a senior figure at the Bank of Russia has said. "Dollarisation is a complex problem," Ksenia Yudaeva told an audience in Moscow on April 8.

There is a high volume of loans to Russian companies denominated in foreign exchange, Yudaeva said. This createa both macro and micro-level risks, she argued, as it endangers companies and magnifies exchange rate volatility.
