Lagarde nominated for second term as IMF head
Christine Lagarde is backed by UK and Germany as selection process launches
Christine Lagarde was nominated for a second term as head of the International Monetary Fund today (January 21) and she appears to have the backing of some large European governments.
Lagarde, appointed managing director in July 2011, was nominated by UK finance minister George Osborne. He described her as an "outstanding leader" who had "the vision, energy and acumen to help steer the global economy through the years ahead".
