LatAm response to Fed sees two hikes

Central Bank of Mexico: keeping a watchful eye on the relative monetary stance between Mexico and the US

Chile and Mexico's central banks both hiked interest rates on December 17, as the region adjusted to the US Federal Reserve's decision to tighten policy the day before.

The Bank of Mexico, which last raised its policy rate in 2008, lifted it by 25 basis points to 3.25%. Earlier in the year it delayed its monetary policy meetings to allow a swift response to Fed announcements.
