Sveriges Riksbank strikes $500 million swap deal with National Bank of Ukraine

Sveriges Riksbank could sell up to $500 million to the National Bank of Ukraine under a new swap deal announced today (September 16), despite the objection of one deputy governor.

Governor Stefan Ingves said the deal would help to "boost confidence in Ukraine's economic reform programme" and, in doing so, reduce the risk of financial instability spreading across borders and affecting Sweden.
