Menon praises Asian strides in face of new bank regulation

Asian banks are better placed to adapt to Basel III reforms than their Western peers, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) managing director Ravi Menon suggested on May 28, during one of three high-level events hosted by the central bank last week.

"For many Asian banks, the transition to the new regulatory standards will probably be less demanding [than for American and European competitors]," Menon said at the Symposium on Asian Banking and Finance, organised in collaboration with the Federal
