Malta names Alfred Mifsud as deputy governor

He will ‘primarily’ focus on monetary policy during his five-year term

The Central Bank of Malta announced the appointment of Alfred Mifsud as deputy governor today (May 8), rounding out its new-look management team.

Mifsud was chairman of Crystal Finance Investments – a wealth management company founded in co-operation with UBS – in Malta from 2000 to 2014, according to the central bank.

He also has experience in the public sector, having served as a governor on the board of the Malta Financial Services Authority between 1992 and 1996.
