Greece rejects plan to extend programme

Talks on Greece's bailout that ran late into the evening yesterday have collapsed, after Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis rejected proposals that would have seen a continuation of the current reform programme.

The meeting of the Eurogroup, a gathering of eurozone finance ministers, sought to find common ground as Greece hurtles towards the brink of default. The country's current programme ends on February 28, and beyond that point it is doubtful the government could fund itself for long
