Prosecutors drop investigation into controversial comments by National Bank of Poland governor
Marek Belka did not break the law when suggesting finance minister's removal in leaked recording
Marek Belka, the governor of the National Bank of Poland (NBP), is no longer under legal investigation over controversial comments made during a conversation with the country's interior minister that was secretly recorded and leaked, Polish prosecutors said today (September 16).
In the recording, published by a local news magazine in June, Belka is heard discussing the possibility of the NBP buying government bonds and calling for then finance minister Jacek Rostowski's removal from office -
