People: BoE legal adviser to retire in April 2015; Banque de France appoints new deputy director

England: Graham Nicholson, chief legal adviser of the Bank of England (BoE) since 2009, has announced his retirement, effective on April 30, 2015.

In a statement released last week, Mark Carney, governor of the BoE, said Graham Nicholson had been a valued adviser to him and "to the former governor, Lord King, and his insights and judgement have helped lead the Bank through a period of significant legislative change".

Nicholson joined the BoE after his retirement as a partner at Freshfields
