Former IMF assistant director joins Asian Development Bank

Philippines: Shang-Jin Wei joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as chief economist today, where he will become the bank's spokesperson on economic issues.

Wei, born in China and a national of the United States, is also a professor of finance and economics at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business in New York.

Prior to joining Columbia University, Wei was an assistant director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he led the fund's policy research. He also has experience
