Parliamentary committee questions Central Bank of Ireland transparency
An Irish parliamentary committee will examine whether confidentiality provisions in the country's legislation prevent the Central Bank of Ireland from disclosing important information about financial misconduct to the public.
The decision follows a petition from a member of the public, Alan Jackman, who requested the Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions look into the "secrecy provisions" contained in the Central Bank of Ireland Act 1942.
