Bank of Spain director general resigns

The director-general of the Bank of Spain's Regulation and Financial Stability department, José María Roldán Alegre, has resigned after 12 years at the head of the department, the central bank announced on Friday.

In a statement, the Bank of Spain said its executive board had accepted Roldán's resignation, and expressed its gratitude for the "notable" work he performed while in the post.

The central bank offered no clues as to the reasons for Roldán's departure, and did not respond to a request
