UK lawmakers call for rethink of banking carve-up

UK lawmakers have called on the country's banking commission to re-examine the merits of full separation of UK banks' retail and investment operations, says an interim report, published on Wednesday.

The UK's Treasury Select Committee requested the Independent Commission on Banking (ICB) address a number of its concerns on proposals to ring-fence retail banking, including a further assessment on the option of a "full structural separation" of banks' retail and investment arms.
